Abstract: Quantum information–theoretic ideas have recently provided new insights into quantum field theory in curved space-times. In this talk we present a nonperturbative inequality for the entanglement entropy of quantum field theory in rigid AdS space-time, derived using tools from quantum information theory. This result implies the irreversibility of renormalization group flows in AdS in 1+1, 2+1 and 3+1 space-time dimensions. In the second part of the talk we discuss on-going work aimed at understanding the entanglement properties of free field theories in AdS, including analytic results in 1+1 dimensions and numerical analyses in 2+1 and 3+1 dimensions.
